LA CASTREÑA Large Anchovy Fillets
unit weight: 50g
Since 1986, Conservera Castreña S.A., has been offering customers the highest quality of tinned and salted fish. The production of their products is carried out entirely in their facilities, under strict quality control, supervising the entire flow of production from the moment the fresh fish arrives at our factory, until it is processed and sent to the consumer.
“La Castreña, synonym of quality” is their slogan and the principle that has governed their
company since our inception. The raw material comes from artisanal fishing boats, whose fishing gear are purse seines and hoisted in the case of anchovies. Clear focus on the customer.
• Focused on quality and superior work.
• 100% production in our facilities in Castro-Urdiales (Cantabria), Spain.
• Procurement of fish from environmentally friendly fishing gear.
• 100% natural, without artificial additives.
The highest quality of anchovy is always captured in the Cantabrian Sea (FAO 27 VIIIc) during the spring. The Cantabrian anchovies (Engraulis encrasicolus) are fished during the spring months in the waters of the Bay of Biscay. It is at this time of year when the organoleptic properties of anchovy are best. Anchovies arrive fresh at our facilities, where they are prepared in barrels for maturing in salting (a process that takes approximately 12 to 18 months). After this time, they are carefully cleaned, making fillets that are packed in oil.
