THE FESTIVAL OF SANT JORDI
Thursday, April 18th at 7pm
Mercado Central NYC
354 Degraw Street, BK 11231
Come celebrate one of Catalonia's most important festivals - Sant Jordi - with us and the Catalan Delegation to the United States. Chef, author and culinary historian Alba Sunyer Ollé will take us on a tour of Catalan cuisine and it's multi-cultural influences from Ancient Rome to modern times.
With conservas, cava and vermut from our great friends at Espinaler and Raventós i Blanc, friendly competitions, prizes, books and roses, you'll get the full flavor of this Catalan celebration of love and literature.
Every year Catalonia celebrates their patron saint - Sant Jordi - with a festival of books and roses. People exchange the gifts of books and roses throughout Catalonia, and especially in Barcelona, where tents are set up all along La Rambla with book vendors and flower stalls. Join us on April 18th for the festival of Sant Jordi right here in Brooklyn (the official date is April 23rd, but they start celebrating early in Catalonia, too!).
